Halloween Gifts for Kids Who’d Rather Be Outside: Skip the Candy, Give a First Ride

Not another bag of candy. A Halloween gift that gets kids (and outdoor-loving adults) outside, with a first ride they will still be talking about at Christmas. Age-by-age picks from $239.99.

Candy is gone in three days. The plastic toy is in a drawer by Thanksgiving. If you are searching for a Halloween gift for kids that is not candy, here is the one we would give: something they have to be a little brave to use. Halloween weekend is the last stretch of good fall weather in most of the country, and a first ride on a real gas mini bike turns it into a day they will remember.

What a ride teaches that a toy cannot

At our two Rider Series events this year, in Houston in May and Colorado Springs in August, we watched the same thing happen over and over. A kid who was nervous at the start line rolled ten feet, stopped, and then wanted to go again. By the third lap they were looking ahead instead of down. That is the whole gift: the first time they twist the throttle themselves, the first time they brake before the cone instead of after it, the first small hill they were not sure about.

What the parents watching from the fence care about is not speed. A 40cc kids bike tops out at 13 to 20 mph and most of them have a limiter you can turn down. It is about a child learning that a machine will do what they tell it to, and that they are the one in charge of it.

How to make Halloween special with a bike (without breaking the one rule)

Every FRP bike is off-road only. It does not go trick-or-treating on the sidewalk, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it can do on Halloween weekend:

  • The costume ride. Helmet on over the costume, a few laps around the yard or the family property, and the photo you will actually keep.
  • The Saturday first ride. Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026. Assemble Friday night, ride Saturday morning, trick-or-treat Saturday evening.
  • The trunk-or-treat showpiece. If your church or school runs a trunk-or-treat on private grounds, a red or black mini bike next to the tailgate draws a crowd.
  • The reveal without the ride. If the weather turns, a bike in the garage with a bow on it is still the best thing they got that day. The first ride waits for the next dry morning.

Pick by age: which FRP ride fits the kid you are buying for

Most parents shop this by age, so that is how we lay it out. Sit the child on the bike if you can; they should reach the ground with both feet and reach the bars without stretching. If you are buying for a grandchild, niece or nephew, check the row with their parents first.

Halloween gift ideas for adults who love the outdoors

The same logic works for a grown-up. If they camp, hunt, have a piece of land, or still talk about the mini bike they had as a kid, a GMB100P with front suspension or an FX140 is the gift they would not buy themselves. Black or red for the season, a helmet in the box, and a plan for the first Saturday. The adult gift guide covers fit, storage and the upgrade path.

Why FRP, out of everything on the Halloween gift lists

You will find a hundred lists of Halloween gifts for kids. Most of the items on them cost under $30 and are forgotten by November. A bike is a bigger decision, so here is what backs it up.

Every bike ships 85% pre-assembled with a printed manual, a First Ride Kit of setup videos, and stocked replacement parts. The GMB100 carries a 75-day return window with a free return label. If something is missing from the box, support answers Monday to Friday by phone, email and WhatsApp.

Will it arrive by October 31?

Halloween 2026 is a Saturday. Here is when to order so the box is on the driveway, inspected and assembled before the costume goes on.

What you are giving How it ships Order by for October 31 Order by for December 25

FX125, FX140 LTL freight. 10–15 business days in transit; the carrier calls to book a delivery window. Tuesday, October 6 Monday, November 30

Dates assume in-stock items shipped to the lower 48 states. Check the shipping page for your destination, and keep the phone number on the order reachable for freight deliveries.

Colors, wrapping and the reveal

  • Black and red are the Halloween colors across the range. GMB100 also comes in purple, green, blue, yellow, gray and white; GMB100P in black, purple, red and green.
  • Wrap the helmet, not the bike. A full-size bike does not wrap well. Put the helmet, gloves and goggles in a box and lead them to the garage.
  • Keep the packaging until you have checked the box contents against the manual. Our gift checklist walks through delivery, inspection and the first ride.

Questions parents and gift-givers ask

What can I give kids for Halloween instead of candy?

Something they can keep using in November. For a kid who already loves being outside, a first gas mini bike or kids ATV from $239.99 is the answer on this page. For a smaller budget, a properly fitted youth helmet and gloves are a real gift on their own and are the first thing any rider needs.

How do I make Halloween special for my kids without more sugar?

Give them something to do, not something to eat. A first ride on Halloween Saturday morning, helmet over the costume, a few laps in the yard, then trick-or-treating that evening. The bike is off-road only, so the riding stays on your property or a designated riding area.

What should I get my grandkids for Halloween instead of candy?

A bike is a great grandparent gift, but choose it with the parents. Agree on the model, where it will be stored and who supervises, then let the color and the reveal be your surprise. Start with the kids’ guide below and pick the row that matches the child’s age.

Is a mini bike safe for a 6 year old?

The MB40, Sahara 40 and FA40-NEO are built for ages 6 and up, with speeds of 13–18 mph, kill switches and, on the ATVs, a limiter you can turn down. Safe use depends on a properly fitted helmet, adult supervision and riding only on private property. Fit matters more than age: the child should reach the ground and the bars comfortably.

Is 12 too old for Halloween?

Too old for trick-or-treating maybe. Not too old for a first bike. Twelve is the age where a kid outgrows the 40cc class and is ready for a GMB100, or an FX125 if they want a clutch. See the teen gift guide.

Will a bike ordered now arrive before Halloween?

Parcel-shipped models (all mini bikes, kids’ bikes and ATVs) ordered by October 16 should. FX125 and FX140 ship by freight and need an order by October 6. Check the shipping page for your state.
