GMB100P
For the teen who will ride trails and rough ground rather than flat yards. Front suspension forks, hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, 28 mph. Rated to 220 lb, the same as the GMB100, so check your teen’s weight against the limit. Black, purple, red or green. The frame also accepts the Predator 212 engine swap later, which is a gift in itself for a teen who likes to wrench.

A true manual dirt bike that a teen will not outgrow: 265 lb rider capacity where most 125s stop at 160–200. Two wheel sizes. The 14"/12" setup (28.1" seat) fits roughly ages 12–15 and riders to 150 lb; the 17"/14" setup (33.9" seat) has longer-travel suspension and a dual-piston front brake for taller teens and adults. Basic or Pro trim, white or red.

The top of the FRP range. Oil-cooled 140cc four-stroke, 4-speed manual, 17"/14" wheels, 33.9" seat, 161 lb. This is for a teen who already rides a clutch confidently, not a first bike. Red or white.

Fit and the honest conversation
- Seat height against inseam: a teen should touch the ground with the balls of both feet on a dirt bike, flat-footed on a mini bike.
- Rider weight against the rated limit: GMB100 220 lb, GMB100P 220 lb, FX125 265 lb.
- Experience against the clutch: if they have never used one, the FX125 is still fine, but plan the first afternoon on flat ground in first gear.
- Where they will ride: private property or a designated off-road area, and who is driving them there.
You can keep the surprise. Ask which video they were watching, sit them on a friend’s bike if you can, and let the color and the day be the part they do not know.
What teens at our events rode
The Colorado Springs Rider Series in August drew riders from young kids to adults, and the teens gravitated to GMB100s on the cone course and the wheelie demonstrations. In Houston the Slowest Race, where the last rider across the line wins, was the game teens argued about most, which is exactly the control skill a first bike should teach. One rule that never changes: every FRP bike and ATV is EPA-certified for off-road use on private property or designated riding areas. They are not street legal, and gas models do not ship to California. A properly fitted helmet, eye protection, gloves, long sleeves, long pants and over-the-ankle boots are required, and young riders need adult supervision.

Questions parents and gift-givers ask
Is 12 too old for Halloween?
Too old for a candy bag, maybe. Twelve to thirteen is the age where a first real bike lands best, and it is the age where the 40cc kids’ class runs out. A GMB100 for a mini-bike kid, an FX125 for a dirt-bike kid.
Should I buy the GMB100 or the GMB100P for a teenager?
GMB100 if they will ride flat yards, gravel and trails at a cruising pace and you want eight colors. GMB100P if they will ride rough ground and hills; the front suspension and hydraulic brakes are the difference you feel. Both are rated to 220 lb.
Can a 13 year old ride a 125cc dirt bike?
The FX125 with 14"/12" wheels is sized for roughly ages 12–15 and riders up to 150 lb. It has a manual clutch, so plan the first session on flat ground. Adult supervision, full gear and off-road use only.
Is the FX140 too much for a teen?
For a first bike, yes. The FX140 is the oil-cooled top of the range and is meant for a teen or adult who already rides a clutch confidently. Start with the FX125.
