40cc, 125cc & 140cc gas dirt bikes — built to grow with the rider.
FX40 Ogemaw
A 40cc four-stroke built for first-timers — no oil to mix, no gears to think about. Full front and rear suspension soaks up the rough stuff, dual disc brakes stop on command, and the top speed caps at a confidence-building 20 mph. Carries riders up to 132 lb. The bike a kid learns on — and never forgets.

FX125
A genuine 4-speed manual and wet multi-plate clutch turn a rider into a real rider — shifting, feathering, launching. The proven Zongshen® 125cc air-cooled engine keeps pulling up the steep stuff, two wheel sizes fit a growing teen or a full-grown adult, and front and rear hydraulic discs haul it all back down. This is the bike skills are built on.

FX140
The FX140 steps up to a 140cc oil-cooled four-stroke with strong low-end torque and a ~65 mph (105 km/h) top end — paired with a 4-speed manual clutch, chain drive and hydraulic disc brakes. A taller ~33.9-inch seat and more bike underneath, built for experienced teens and adults who've outgrown a first dirt bike and want real trail speed.

125cc & 140cc Dirt Bike FAQ
How much weight can the FX125 hold?
The 125cc FX125 is built for a maximum load of 265 lb, so it carries growing teens and full-grown adults — not just small kids. The 40cc FX40 is rated for riders up to 132 lb.
What age is a 125cc dirt bike for? Can a 12-year-old ride one?
It comes down to size more than age. The FX125 ships in two wheel sizes: the 14-inch / 12-inch setup with a lower seat suits younger or shorter riders learning to shift, while the 17-inch / 14-inch fits taller teens and adults. A confident 12-year-old can ride the smaller size with supervision.
How tall is the FX125 — what is the seat height?
The FX125's seat height is 28.1 inches on the 14"/12" small-wheel build and 33.9 inches on the 17"/14" big-wheel build — that range is what lets one 125cc dirt bike fit a wide span of riders instead of forcing you to buy again next year.
How fast does the FX140 go?
FRP lists the FX140 at about 65 mph (105 km/h) from its 140cc oil-cooled engine — a real step up from a first dirt bike. Actual top speed varies with rider weight, gearing and terrain. The FX140 is an EPA off-road bike, not street legal.
What age and size is the FX40 for?
The FX40 Ogemaw is a 40cc gas kids dirt bike for riders roughly 6 to 12. Top speed is capped at 20 mph and it carries up to 132 lb, with full front and rear suspension plus dual disc brakes to keep first rides under control.
FX125 vs FX140 — which should I choose?
Choose the FX125 if the rider is still learning to ride and shift; choose the FX140 if they have outgrown a first dirt bike and want more power and bigger brakes. We break the whole decision down in our 125cc vs 140cc dirt bike guide.
Are FRP dirt bikes street legal? Where can I ride them?
No — FRP dirt bikes are EPA off-road models, not street legal or registered for public roads. Ride them on private property, trails and off-road areas. The FX40 and FX140 are not sold in California.
Do FRP dirt bikes need 2-stroke oil mixing?
No. Every FRP FX is a four-stroke — no fuel-and-oil premixing and no mix-ratio math, just gas in the tank. One less thing for a new rider or parent to get wrong.
What size dirt bike is right for an 8 or 10 year old?
For most 8–10 year olds new to riding, start on the 40cc FX40 — 20 mph, full suspension, twist-and-go. A bigger or more confident 12–15 year old ready to shift fits the FX125 in its smaller 14"/12" size. Height and confidence matter more than age.
Is the FX125 or FX140 a pit bike or a dirt bike?
Both names get used for bikes this size. The FX125 and FX140 are off-road trail dirt bikes built on pit-bike-sized frames — so whether you searched "125cc pit bike," "140cc pit bike" or "dirt bike," these are what you're looking for.
How fast does the FX125 go?
The FX125 tops out around 56 mph (90 km/h) — quick enough for real trail riding while you learn to shift. If you want even more top end, the FX140 steps up further.
Why Riders Choose FRP FX Dirt Bikes
A Zongshen® engine, not a no-name
The FX125 runs a Zongshen four-stroke — built by one of the world's oldest and largest engine makers. Decades of proven reliability, parts everywhere, and far fewer breakdowns than the no-brand engines in cheaper bikes.
Holds real weight
The question buyers ask most is how much a bike can carry. The FX125 is built for a 265 lb max load — so it fits a growing teen or a full-grown adult, not just a small kid.
Fits the rider
The other thing everyone asks: will it fit? The FX125 comes in two wheel sizes with a 28–34" seat, so one bike suits a younger rider or a taller adult — and the FX40 starts the little ones safely at 20 mph.
