FX125-14 vs FX125-17 — which should I get?
Same 125cc bike in two wheel sizes. The -14 (14″/12″ wheels) sits lower with a 28.1″ seat for younger or shorter teens. The -17 (17″/14″) is the taller build with a 33.9″ seat for bigger teens and adults. Fit by rider height first.
What age is the FX125 for, and can a 12-year-old ride it?
Roughly ages 12–16 by height and skill — it’s the teen step-up, good for riders coming off a 110cc or the FX40. A 12-year-old can ride the -14 (lower 28.1″ seat) with supervision and full gear; true beginners do better starting smaller. A helmet and pads are required regardless of age.
What is the weight limit on the FX125 — how much weight can it hold?
The FX125 supports a 265 lb maximum rider load. The bike itself weighs about 150 lb (-14) or 170 lb (-17).
How tall is the FX125 — what’s the seat height?
Seat height is 28.1″ on the -14 and 33.9″ on the -17, with 11.8″ / 13.2″ of ground clearance.
How fast does the FX125 go?
About 56 mph (90 km/h) top speed, with roughly 143 miles of range on a ~1.2-gallon tank. Real-world speed varies with rider weight and terrain.
Is the 4-speed manual hard to ride?
It’s a 4-speed manual with a clutch — the same platform as the FX140. It’s a new skill coming off a no-clutch mini bike, but it’s what gives real trail control, and most riders get the basics in an afternoon.
What engine and power does the FX125 have?
A 125cc 4-stroke air-cooled (Zongshen) engine making 8.8 hp @ 7,500 rpm, with electric and kick start and hydraulic disc brakes front and rear.
Is the FX125 a pit bike or a dirt bike?
It’s the same machine — a 125cc off-road dirt bike, often called a 125 pit bike.
Is the FX125 street legal, and is it available in California?
It’s EPA off-road only and not street legal. It is not available in California (Prop 65).
