FRP Moto Launches the M3, Its Newest Electric Mini Bike

FRP Moto's newest electric mini bike is here at $2,049.99. The M3 tops out at 55 mph, and its two wheelie gears are capped at 10. That looks backwards on a spec sheet, and it is the most deliberate decision on the bike.

The short version

  • FRP Moto has launched the M3, its newest electric mini bike and the first one it built from the ground up for electric power. It is $2,049.99, in five colors, shipping from early November 2026.
  • The M3 has five gears. The top three do 15, 30 and 55 mph.
  • Gears 4 and 5 are the wheelie gears, and they are capped at 10 mph riding, 20 mph with the front wheel up.
  • That means the bike will never give you full power and wheelie assist at the same time. Picking a wheelie gear is picking to go slowly.
  • The reason is simple: the speed you are carrying when a wheelie goes wrong decides how badly it goes wrong.

FRP Moto has launched the M3, its newest electric mini bike. It is the first FRP mini bike designed from the ground up around an electric drivetrain: 4,100W peak, 107 lb-ft of torque at the wheel, a removable 60V battery, and a top speed of 55 mph. Pre-orders are open at $2,049.99 and are expected to ship from early November 2026.

The feature everyone asks about first is the one built into gears 4 and 5. Put a wheelie button on a 55 mph machine and most people picture the same thing, and it is not a good picture. So the wheelie feature arrived with a decision that looks backwards on a spec sheet: the two gears built for wheelies are the slowest gears on the bike.

What actually goes wrong when people learn wheelies

Ask anyone who has tried. The front wheel coming up is not the scary part. The scary part is the loop-out, the moment the bike keeps rotating past the balance point and comes out from under you, and the fix for it is the rear brake, which is a reflex nobody has on their first afternoon.

Here is the thing that decides how that afternoon ends. A loop-out at 10 mph is a bad moment and probably a bruise. The identical mistake carrying 40 mph is a different category of crash entirely, and no amount of electronics changes that. The variable that matters most is not lift force or angle. It is road speed.

So the useful question for a bike designer is not "how do we make wheelies easier." It is "how do we make sure people are going slowly while they get this wrong."

The answer was a gear chart

Rather than a mode you can switch on at any speed, the M3 puts wheelies in their own gears, with their own cap.

Gear Speed cap What it is for
1st, ECO 15 mph First rides, learning the throttle
2nd, DYNAMIC 30 mph Normal riding
3rd, SPORT 55 mph Full power, open space
4th, Wheelie 10 mph riding, 20 mph in a wheelie Learning, milder lift
5th, Wheelie Pro 10 mph riding, 20 mph in a wheelie Stronger lift, experienced riders

Read it twice and the logic lands. Top speed and wheelie assist are in different gears, so they are never available together. To go fast you leave wheelie mode, and to practice wheelies you accept 10 mph. The bike makes the safe choice the only choice, which is a more reliable method than asking a rider to make it.

Inside the wheelie gears, you still do the work. Pull the front up and the system keeps it there while the throttle sets the angle, anywhere from 20 to 45 degrees depending on how far you turn it. Braking stays with you, and the system drops out of wheelie mode by itself if the bike passes its preset tilt limit. The difference between 4th and 5th is purely how hard it lifts.

What this design costs you

It is worth being straight about the trade. If what you want is a long, fast, rolling wheelie down a straight, this bike will not do it, and no setting unlocks it. The cap is the feature, and someone chasing that specific thrill should know before they buy, not after.

What you get instead is a practice loop you can repeat. Short lifts at walking pace, at the angle you chose, over and over, until the rear brake stops being something you think about. That skill is the part that transfers. The speed cap is the part that lets you build it without an expensive mistake on day one.

The rest of the bike, briefly

The wheelie gears are the interesting decision, but they sit on a machine that had to be built properly first, because instant electric torque is unforgiving of cheap brakes and light chains.

Five colors, free shipping, and pre-orders are expected to begin shipping in early November 2026. The full numbers are in our M3 specs breakdown, and the brake cut-off and auto-Park logic are covered in why a parked electric mini bike can suddenly take off.

Before anyone tries this

Practice on private property where you have permission, or somewhere this type of vehicle is allowed, and check your state and city rules before the first ride.

Wear a DOT helmet, gloves, long sleeves and boots. Low-speed falls land on hands, knees and elbows first, which is exactly the kind of fall a 10 mph wheelie gear is designed to produce instead of the other kind.

FAQ

Why would a mini bike have gears that only go 10 mph?

Because they are the wheelie gears. A loop-out at 10 mph is a bruise; the same mistake at 40 mph is not. Capping the wheelie gears takes the worst outcome off the table.

Can you do a wheelie at top speed on the FRP M3?

No, and that is the point. Top speed is 3rd gear, Auto-Wheelie is 4th and 5th, so the two are never available at once.

What is the difference between the two wheelie gears?

Lift strength. 4th is the milder learning response, 5th lifts harder. Both share the same speed cap, and the throttle sets the angle from 20 to 45 degrees in either.

Do you still need a wheelie bar if the bike has wheelie modes?

They do different jobs. The modes manage the lift and exit past the tilt limit; the bar physically catches the bike. The M3 Plus ships with one that mounts at the forward footpeg position.

Where can you ride an electric mini bike like this?

Private property where you have permission, or an area where this type of vehicle is allowed. Local rules vary, so check yours first.
